What do you want to store?

You can choose more than one.

How to estimate your storage needs

Start with your belongings and the access you need. Room count alone tells you little about the storage floor area required.

Compare sizes

A rough guide, not a promise of fit. The size, shape and weight of your items matter.
Your needsA possible starting pointWhat to check
A few boxes and suitcases, occasional accessFlexStorage M or LM: 1.04 m³, L: 2.16 m³. Once a month by appointment. Check usable dimensions and weight limits.
Compact items, spontaneous accessA locker or small storage unit24/7 access. Lockers are described by volume, storage units by floor area.
Small furniture and boxesS: 1–2.5 m² or M: 2.5–4.5 m²A range to compare. Assembled furniture, access paths and wide items need more floor space.
Several larger pieces of furnitureL: 4.5–6.5 m² or XL: 6.5–10 m²Dimensions and layout matter. An entire household may need considerably more space.

Concrete examples to compare

Recommendations cover the specific items listed, including a 20% packing allowance. Furniture stays assembled. For frequent access, we include extra space to retrieve items.

How to store your belongings

From packing list to storage, step by step

A little preparation saves space and makes it easier to find your belongings later.

    The box size used in our examples60 × 40 × 40 cmLength × width × height · 0.096

    List and measure

Start with your largest items, then add boxes, suitcases and bags.

    • Write down the length, width and height of your furniture.
    • Measure luggage and sports bags when packed, and golf bags with clubs inside.

Our tipA photo of your whole load helps you check that nothing is missing from your list.

  2. Furniture wrapped for transport alongside moving boxes

    Prepare and protect

Pack your belongings before delivery. Cover furniture with moving blankets and pad delicate surfaces for transport.

    • Take apart furniture that is designed to be dismantled.
    • Wrap glass and fragile pieces individually and protect the edges.

Our tipKeep screws and fittings in labelled bags with the matching piece of furniture.

  3. FlexStorage cage with boxes, luggage and leisure equipment

    Arrange for easy access

Put heavy, sturdy items at the bottom. Allow separate space for fragile items and things that cannot be stacked.

    • Label the front and top of each box with its contents.
    • If you will visit your unit regularly, decide which belongings you will need and leave a clear path to them.

Our tipKeep items for your next visit at the front. With FlexStorage, you pack the cage and we put it into storage.

  4. Mallorca Storage in Son Castelló, Palma

Good to know

Square metres and cubic metres are different

Square metres describe floor area. Cubic metres describe volume. A 60 × 40 × 40 cm box has a calculated volume of 0.096 m³. Ten such boxes total 0.96 m³. That does not mean they fit in every 1 m³ enclosure. Layout, opening, usable dimensions and stackability determine the fit.

How is the size recommendation calculated?

For your packing list, we add length × width × height × quantity and include a 20% packing allowance. Furniture gets at least its own floor footprint. If you store furniture dismantled, we use the configured packed dimensions for suitable pieces. Partial or uncertain dismantling uses assembled dimensions. Access to individual items adds at least 1 m² or 25% of the calculated area, whichever is greater. These are planning assumptions, not measured room heights or guaranteed packing capacities.

Common storage questions

How should I prepare furniture for storage?

Store it clean and dry with protected surfaces. Dismantle suitable furniture and label the fixings. Keep anything you need soon within reach. Our furniture guide explains preparation and delivery.

Will a whole home fit into a particular unit?

There is no reliable rule based only on floor area or room count. Large furniture, packing and access paths change the space needed. An item list with dimensions is more useful.

Do I need an account to use the guide?

No. Answer the questions and see your recommendation without registering. Personal details are only needed when you book.
